basic training - (3-4 months) - $800 per month

Basic retriever training is the most important part of a young inexperienced dog’s training that exposes them to basic hunting situations. Dogs will be taught basic obedience commands (whistle), collar conditioning, force fetch (holding a bird on command until told to release) and steadiness. They will be introduction to birds, gunfire, vehicles, decoys, stationary platforms (duck blinds, dog blinds) live and dead birds and basic marking concepts on land and water. A dog that completes this program will be ready to field hunt, obedient off lead, steady to gunfire, and proficient in marking long, singles and doubles.

finished retrieving - (3-4 months) $800 per month

Finished retriever program is for dogs that have been through basic or has previous training. Dogs that complete this program will be considered a finished retriever who can handle all types of hunting situations. This program will incorporate foundational drills which include force to a pile, land and water marks, “T” drills and swim-by. Your dog will also be taught more advanced marking (marking multiple birds). By the end of this program a dog will be proficient in marking difficult multiple marks and the ability to be handled (using hand signals to direct the dog). When your dog completes this program, it will be prepared to compete in Finished and Master level hunt test.

pre-hunting season tune-up (1-3 months) $800 per month

Our pre-hunting season tune-up program is for those who want to polish their dog up before hunting season. Your dog will be put into hunting type situations which will help them refresh them on obedience, steadiness and marking birds’ skills. It will help them to lose those extra pounds they may have gained over the summer and get tuned-up for the upcoming hunting season. This course is a must for the serious duck hunter or Hunt Test competitor.

advance retriever (3-6 months) $800 per month

The advanced retriever program takes all the skills that your dog is taught in a finished retriever program to a higher level needed for hunting or for campaigning a dog for Hunt Test competitions. This program teaches your dog to handle very technical multiple marks and blind retrieves, emphasis is put on precise marking, handling and straight lines through cover, difficult terrain and water. This course is a must for the serious duck hunter or Hunt Test competitor.

training the trainer - $45 per hour

This program is designed for those dog owners’ that want to do it themselves. We will go over the things that you need to be working on with your dog and take you through training processes and scenarios which will give you the knowledge that you will need to help you turn your dog into a fully training family and hunting companion.

Marsh Dog Kennels offer a full boarding service for your dog. We believe in caring for your dog as if they were our own. Our kennels are fully covered, individual containments with a concrete floor and plastic barrelhouses that are clean and offer a safe environment for all of our guests. All kennels are cleaned several times each day.

Before bringing your dog into the kennel for boarding, we require proof of vaccinations including rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough). You are welcome to bring some of your dog’s food, if you would like to transition your dog to our food – Eukanuba Premium Performance.
